Pelion, the "Mythic Mountain" as it is called, has a rich history of arts, culture and mythologies, with brilliant pages in the book of the past. The «Pelion Myths» stay alive over the years. One of them is about the famous "Attack of Giants", the terrible and supernatural creatures with unimaginable force against the Olympian Gods. Then, the myth that the Pelion mountain was the summer resort of the Olympian Gods for their summer residence, but also the place where lived the legendary Centaurs. The Centaurs were borned from the union of the king of Thessaly Ixion and Nefeli. Their half body was a human body and the other half was a body of a horse. They were too famous about the "Centauromachy", they loved the wars and they used to live near the rivers.

The biggest and most famous was the centaur Chiron, the teacher of Hercules, Jason, Theseus, Achilles and Aesculapius, the first doctor of the humans. Also, in Pelion took place the marriage of Achilles’ parents, the hero of the Trojan War, King Peleus and Niriidas Thetis, and the first beauty contest between the goddesses Aphrodite, Hera and Athena. Through the legend, the winner was Aphrodite, making furious goddesses Hera and Athena. In Pelion was born the legend of the Dryads, the nymphs of trees and meadows, symbolizing the uncontrollable force of nature and lived in caves, rivers, always accompanying the goddess Artemis. Finally,

Pelion was the place from where started the famous Argonauts led by Jason in order to bring back the Golden Fleece, a symbol of wealth and prosperity. Argo, the famous and historical ship which created by the carpenter, Argus, revives even today, as one of the main attractions that a visitor has to see.
